Please read the passage before reading the commentary

In Paul’s Corinth, there Jewish people, Jewish sympathizers, pagans, slave, freemen, and people of the lower class.  Paul said that he had become a slave to all of them for the sake of the gospel.  He does not mention people of the upper class, perhaps because he had trouble working with them, but we do know that there were people of the upper class in Corinth.

Like Paul, we are called to be slaves of all to win them for Christ.  There are in our society, Christians, Muslims, Jews, and other religious denominations.  There are also Democrats and Republicans, gay and straight people, binary and gender-fluid people, pro-gun and anti-gun people, and many other groups divided.  We are supposed to be all things to all of them, but this seems impossible.  What if we looked upon all these peoples as we look upon flowers?  What if we saw their humanness instead of their differences?  What if we loved rather than hated?

If we did love and not hate, then we could be all things to all people.  Then the people of the planet and the planet itself could enjoy peace and prosperity for all.  Now is the time to become all things to everyone else.  If not now, then our peace and unity may come only the cemetery.  We have a choice.
