Please read the passage before the homily.
The counter-offensive is on. The good guys have started to fight back. The push is on to retake what the enemy has captured. Jesus has expelled demons from Mary Magdalene and some other women. The enemy had tried to get rid Mary Magdalene and her cohorts, but Lord had saved them, cured them and let them join his followers.
Then Jesus went out, journeying from one town and village to another, proclaiming the good news of the Kingdom of God. It was the kingdom of God, not the kingdom of Satan that Jesus proclaimed. The Twelve and the woman were with him. The Good News was being announced.
If you listen to news’ broadcasts or hear fear being spread throughout the community in our day, you may start to think that the devil is winning ground today against Christ. On the other hand, the Twelve, the women and Jesus is still announcing and proclaiming the good news of the defeat of Satan and his minions. The counter-offensive that became evident in the birth of Jesus was completed in the death and resurrection of Jesus.
What is left for today? We are with Jesus and announce the good news of Satan’s defeat. Satan still runs around today, spreading misinformation and the fake news of his victory, but we know otherwise. We believe the good news, not the fake news.
The women provided for the Lord out of their resources. We likewise must provide for the Lord through our resources, that is, our talents, our repentance from sin, our determination to follow in the footsteps of Christ. So, we, like Jesus and the women, continue journeying from one person to another preaching and proclaiming by action the good news of the Kingdom of God.
