My sisters and brothers,
God sent an angel from heaven to earth to a small town in Galilee to a young woman named Mary. There are many places in the universe but only to earth did God send the angel. There are many places on earth, but only to Galilee did God send the angel. There are many places in Galilee, but only to Nazareth did God send the angel. There were many young women in Galilee but only to Mary did God send the angel.
Mary is part of the many good women of the Bible: Eve the mother of all who live; Tamar who prevented the ruin and destruction of the tribe of Judah; Rahab, who sheltered the Israelite spies or was the fourth great-grandmother of King David; and Bathsheba, the wife of Uriah the Hittite and daughter-in-law of king David and mother of king Solomon. There are more good women also.
God is always in all the lands of the universe, in all the small towns hamlets of these lands, and in all the, homes of these places, and God calls both women and men to be spouses, brothers, sisters and mothers of God. God says to us, “Hail/I greet you, full of grace; the Lord is with you. You have found favor with God.” We are destined to be mothers, spouses, sisters and brothers of God in this world.
To be full of grace means to have all the helps necessary to complete the work and mission to which Giod has called us. We have the power to do this because God has spoken. God has sent us the angel.
We are all called to give birth to our Lord Jesus Christ for the saving of the world. We are mothers of Christ to show the rest of the world that the face of God is in us and in the world of today. Christmas is not a thing of the past but is for today and for every man and woman. We are mothers of Christ for today and for every day until the last day.
