Mis hermanas y hermanos,
The scribes and the Pharisees would read the law of Moses, but they did not do the works of Moses.
They preferred to become great and be given noble names Teacher, Father, Guide.
Now, however, something new has come us. In Christ we are all on God’s family, joined with us in Christ and made sisters and brothers in Christ. We are all under our one and only teacher, under our one and only Guide who is our one and only Father.
Who is the greatest among us? The greatest has to serve the rest of us. The greatest is the one who sent the Son to save us and that one is our God. The greatest is our Lord Jesus Christ who died and rose from the dead to save us.
It is not for us to be greater than others. It is for us to be humble and serve one another. It is not for us to have big phylacteries or long tassels, but ours is to give humble service. We who have taken our seats on the chair of Moses because we have been baptized or ordained must do the same things that we have read and preached.
Our Guide for living is Christ who leads us and guides us to the service we ought to give for others in the name of God.
If we have been given the name of Father, Guide, or Teacher, then we must give life to the others and show them the way to God and do the best4 we can. We are subcontractors of God.
