Please read the passage before reading the commentary.
Apples galore! When God changes the forest into an orchard and then changes the forest into an orchard. I have the picture of a family-sized orchard becoming as big as a national forest and then changing back into a national orchard. If an apple as day keeps the doctor away, does a forest of apples keep death away forever?
Can people who have blinded themselves from reading God’s word see again? Can those who have deafened themselves from hearing God’s word hear again the words of a book? If you say that they cannot see or hear again, then are you not also saying that God cannot redeem Abraham or that Jacob is no longer a patriarch of God’s people?
On that day, the Word of God says, even those who have refused to hear and refused to see will hear and see. On that day, even the most ignorant and the poorest shall rejoice in God. God will change hearts as easily as God can change orchards into forests and forests into orchard, as easily as God can heal willing deafness and willing blindness of the people.
Then, on that day and at that time, in the great Academy of the University of Heaven, we shall receive understanding and instruction, graduating with greatest honors and welcomed by the Lord himself.
This is what the prophet sees for us. This is the goal of the Advent season. This is where God wants us to end up.
