Please read the passage first, before the homily.

Why did God send his Son, Jesus into the world?  It was to save the world, not to condemn it.  Had God sent his Son in order to condemn us, we would have been condemned with no questions asked, because God’s power is absolute and cannot be thwarted.  God, however, did not send Jesus to condemn us, but to save us.  If God’s power is supreme, then we are saved.

How God can do this depends on God’s mercy.  God is from heaven and we are of earth.  God’s power, however, has made us children of heaven, children of the above.  Only those from above can understand what is above.  God has given us this power by making us children of the above.  We can understand the word of God, and we can proclaim to others this word of God.

How does Gid save us?  First, he calls us out of darkness into God’s own wonderful light.  Then God gives us the Holy Spirit with God’s Word.  With the Spirit, God’s word, and our rebirth into God’s light, being saved is easy.  It is nothing we have to do except to let God do God’s work on  us.

Rise up, children of the light, children of the above and relax in the presence of the Most High and Lofty God who has lifted us up to the heights of God’s existence.
