Please read the passage before the commentary.

The mighty and powerful God who manages all the powers of the universe, the one who gives strength to the fainting, invites us to come to him who is meek and humble of heart.  The one whose power surpasses all that we could ever imagine, is really meek and humble of heart?

If we are waiting for a coming of God in a remarkable way, we are overlooking God’s presence.  As Elijah discovered, in the first Book of Kings (19:9-13), God is not in the power of fire, water or earthquake, but in the whisper of a breeze.  Are we afraid of gentleness or do we not trust God’s gentleness?

We are wasting our time if we are looking for a powerful figure.  Are we tired of winter already, or of Advent, or of waiting for Christmas?  If we are labored, burdened, tired, God invites us, saying “my yoke is easy and my burden light.” It is God’s meekness that calls us to God; it is our pride that holds us back.
