Please read the passage before the commentary.
Jesus healed two blind men. The ancient belief in the end time was that contraries would be assimilated. The blind would see, the deaf would hear, the orchard would become a forest, the lowly would find joy in the Lord and tyrants would be no more.
Blow the trumpets and shout for joy, “the Lord Jesus has healed two blind men!” Did Jesus really think that the people could refrain from announcing what Jesus did?
Where is Jesus today, with his healing presence? We do not see the Lord being present, healing and saving. I keep losing mu things. I hunt and hunt for them. I find them in the Lord’s good time, which seems to be after I have stopped looking. I have had setbacks: I wonder that they could have been worse. I do not know what could have happened. Am I blind or deaf to the wonders God still does, but which I do not notice?
Right now, we are blind to the gifts we shall receive at Christmas. The challenge these gifts give us is that we recognize the gift of Jesus hidden in our lives.
