Please read this passage before reading the homily.

My sisters and brothers,

Is God dead?  Is the world going to end soon?  Do we have to be afraid coming doom?

“Once a sower went out to sow.”  It is the word of God that is sown, and this word is fertile and strong.  In ancient times first the seed was sown, then the fields were plowed.  Pathways were not plowed; neither were rocky patches or sticker bushes plowed.  Seeds that fall on good ground can bear fruit: some, a hundred grains; others, sixty grains; and others, thirty grains.

Indeed, do we expect that one seed can produce tbnvn0hirty, sixty or a hundred others?  We can expect this because many cereal grains divide into many plants in the process of generation.  (One grain can divide into 30 or 60 or more plants.)  God’s creation produces more seed and sperm than what is needed for survival.

The word of God has been sown among us, in our lives, and in our world.  It will grow, it will subdivide, it will multiply itself many times over, as grains of wheat do.  This word of God grows in our lives, and it will produce good actions in us.

The word of God is not going to destroy the world, but God will save the world through this word.  We do not know when the end of the world will come, but we do know that the word of God will live.  The word of God always gives us life.  We need have no fear, but hope, joy, and happiness will last forever.

“Let the one who has ears, listen.”
