(Please read the Scripture passage before reading the homily.)
I celebrate Mass in the chapel of a medical center three times a week, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. In today’s Gospel. Jesus spoke about eyes. Doctors look at people’s eye when they are treating their patients. The doctors can discern ailments by looking at the eyes. Yes, if your eyes are sound, your body will be sound. If your eyes are not sound, the doctors will prescribe remedies to restore the eyee and the body to health.
Jesus told us to have sound eyes so that we continually see light instead of darkness. When we allow the fullness of light to enter our body through our eyes, we will be filled with light. This will be good for our bodies in this life and our whole being forever.
This is the substance of my homily. A nurse stopped me after Mass to tell me that I had the correct information. I think it is good that our science measures up to the teaching of Jesus.
May you eye radiate light and fill your total being with light for health and happiness.
