HOMILY: 22 MAY 2022 (REVELATION 21:10-4;22-23)

(Please read the Scripture passage before the homily.)

The mountain of God is huge and enormous.  On this mountain is the City of God, called the New Jerusalem.  In the days of the Apostles, before we had airplanes, the walls of a city were its primary defense in times of war.  The walls of the City of God could perfectly protect the city.  Now, however, we have airplanes that can drop bombs on cities and cities need strong domes over the cities to protect them.  Despite this, God is still the protection of the God’s holy city, the Church, and you who are God’s people.  God is able to protect God city from danger by sea, land or air.

The holy city is the richest of all the other cities.  It’s wall and gates are of precious stones and are stronger than diamonds.  The city of God is the strongest of all the other cities.

The foundations of this city are the twelve Apostles of the Lamb.  This makes the foundation the strongest possible because Christ established his Church on the faith of Peter and the other Apostles.

My sisters and brothers, we are citizens of this New Jerusalem.  We are living in this strong city and the glory of God enlightens and the Lamb is the source of our light.

We need not fear the devil, nor the sufferings other inflict on us, nor our sins and failures, because the Lamb is the one who protects us.  The Lamb is likewise the Son of God, Christ, our Redeemer.  No one can beat Christ because Christ is the most powerful figure of all the forces on earth.
