Please read the passage before the commentary.
It is the time of fulfillment, according to the opening words of this reading. St Paul also speaks of a fulness of time when God sent his Son (Cf Galatians 4:4).
What is a fulness of time or a fulfilment of time? Our time here on earth is limited, partial. God lives beyond time, in timelessness. Fulness of time represents the totality of our partial times. When the timeless God enters our human time, God’s timelessness fills all our partial times. This means that somehow our human time is mixed with God’s timelessness so that the human and divine exist side by side. We believe that is so with Jesus Christ and all those baptized in him.
The Christian faith is that Jesus is both human and divine, completely human and completely divine, and this from the first moment of his existence in his mother’s womb. For this reason, fishermen could leave their nets and become followers of Jesus. For this reason, we can become followers of Jesus and share the fulness of God’s timelessness here on earth and share it completely in the fulness of the Kingdom in heaven.
Now is the time fulfilment, not of partiality. Now is the time of completeness. Now, in this completeness, we can finally have sins forgiven and walk with God, in Christ, on this earth as Adam and Eve once did. We cannot live partially now since the fulness of time has come. Rejoice in this and mark my words.
