The Acts of the Apostles is the story of the spread of the Church beginning from Jerusalem to all the nations (See Luke 24:47). Rome is the symbol of all the nations as all roads led to and from Rome. The next three chapters will tell of Paul’s trip to Roma and how he exercised his ministry there for two tears.
The culmination of the Lord Jesus’ life was Jerusalem and the culmination of the work of the Acts of the Apostles was Rome. Our life is heading towards its Rome, the culmination of God’s work for us in this life.
It is not a physical place, but God does direct our lives so that we come to our life’s goal. It may be Rome, or Rome may be as symbol of the completion of our journey.
With Paul arrival in Rome, we celebrate the milestone of the Church’s growth ands development represented by Rome. We celebrate the end of our annual celebration of Easter with the Pentecostal giving of the Spirit, which we celebrate in our Sunday liturgies for this Sunday.
