Please read the passage before the commentary.

Jesus said that his Father was at work until now.  God’s work was not finished on the sixth day of creation any more than a mother’s work is finished after giving birth or even until her death: her children are always with her.

The Father was at work even in the days of Jesus.  Jesus likewise was at work, imitating the work of the Father.  We could say to the people that they had seen his works, but they apparently had seen the works but not the source of the works.  They could see the godly works of Jesus but had not seen God in Jesus.  This may be why they saw blasphemy instead of goodness.

Do we shy away from good deeds because we do not think we are godly enough to do God’s work?  Do we hesitate to let God work through us because we do not think God can or will work through us?  God has called us to life through others; God wants to use us to call more people to faith.

The Father worked even in Jesus’ time and still works.  Jesus worked the Father’s will. We can do the same, letting the Father and Jesus work though us.  This way all can share in the life God wants us to have through Jesus.
