Please read the passage before the commentary.
She was brought to Jesus and accused of being caught in the very act of committing adultery, however one could do this without the significant other person!
Jesus was seated in the temple teaching. The accusers approached Jesus. He ignored them and started writing on the ground. He heard the accusation and knew the requirements of the Law. He continued writing on the ground. Jesus did not rise to greet them and had given no sign of recognizing their presence. He wrote on the ground and gradually the accusers went away.
Then Jesus stood, looked at the woman with respect, saw that no one was there to accuse her, and sent her away, without condemnation, without punishment. This is the beauty of Jesus. He sees our guilt; he knows our sins in all their complexities. Yet he says, “Neither do I condemn you. Go, and from now on do not sin any more.”
