Please read the passage before the commentary.
I hear this passage and think about Joseph of Egypt (Cf Genesis chapters 37-49). Joseph’s family is dysfunctional and so are the leaders of the people. In both cases the protagonists are exposed to death through this encounter with death each saves the lives of those who sought their life.
If we hear the word of God, we must listen to it, which means we must obey it, at the risk of losing our alignment with the cornerstone. It is the height of dysfunctionality to ignore the position of cornerstones since they enable building in straight lines with well-marked corners,
I understand that God is building us into a house, a structure, that will be strong and useful if it is aligned with Jesus, the cornerstone that keeps us aligned with God.
This is our challenge, to listen to the word of God, no matter where it comes from. Sometimes God sends people whom we consider unusual to speak the word of prophecy we need to hear.
