Please read the passage before the commentary.
If we have faith in God, then we trust God. Then Jesus says that we should trust him as much as you trust God. The Father’s house has many rooms, but Jesus is in charge of assigning them. If we want access to God, we must go through Jesus.
We tend to think of baptism as the only way of going through Jesus. Baptism is important and we are mandated by Jesus to go out and baptize the whole world (Matthew 16:19). Jesus binds us to baptism, but Jesus can bring others to God by other means. Even if we fail to preach the gospel and baptize, we cannot restrict Jesus from saving others and bringing them to the Father.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. There is no other way, no other truth, no other life. It is necessary that we proclaim Christ, but we should also respect those to whom we preach; they are not ignorant or malicious people. They just do not know what we know and we are to share with them our faith God and Jesus.
No one can come to the Father except through Jesus. We must be careful to preach Jesus, not ourselves, to others. The God we preach through Jesus is benevolent, kind, compassionate, caring, forgiving, and living. This God is whom we preach and we must do it with the same loving charity with which Jesus has come to us.
