Please read the passage before the commentary.

There were tensions in the early Church.  There were issues between the Hebrew Christians and the Greek Christians over the lack of attention given to their widows in the service of the daily distribution.

There are tensions in our modern Church among our Catholic citizens and the poor, Catholic, and brown people living here in the service of the daily distribution.

It was not right for the apostles, putting aside the ministry of the word, to administer the goods, but it was necessary that somebody do it.  They chose seven deacons for this service.

In our day it is necessary to have the ministry of the word as well as the ministry of the daily distribution.

The work of evangelization and the work of daily both belong to the community, according to the talents of each.

Many of our refugees are Catholic, brown and poor.  Their presence among s enriches the life of the nation.  It is necessary for ius, since we are the Church of today, as it was in the time of the apostles, to preach the word and to take care of the temporal needs of others.

The tension in the Church of the apostles was between the Hebrew and the Greek speaking Christians, between citizens and foreigners, between newcomers and established residents.  The tension in the Church of today is between similar groups and divisions.  The early Church worked together to maintain the unity of Church.  The modern Church has to work together to maintain the unity of the Church.
