June 18, 2025: 2 Corinthians 9:6-11
I have been told that if you lant one seed of corn you will get some new corn, but if you plant several seeds, your harvest will be exponentially greater.
I also have heard that the Allies punished Germany severely after World War I, and that this led to World War II. After World War II, however, the United States worked together to rebuild national economies, and the world recognized the United States as a great nation.
St Paul was encouraging the Corinthians to take part generously in a collection to aid the poor Cristians suffering in Jerusalem. He knew that God would more than match human generosity. The wealth of the Corinthians, shared with the rich faith of the Palestinian Christians would cause the wealth of the Jerusalem believers faith to be shared with the Corinthains and all would benefit in body and spirit.
We are called to share our wealth with those who need it. Some need faith, others need financial help, others are starving. When we share, we establish equality and enhance unity. We are enriched and God is glorified. Our generosity reflects God’s generosity, and God’s generosity lasts forever and ever.
